Sarcophaga bercaea

The genus Sarcophaga (S. bercaea shown here) is composed of an immense number of flesh-fly species that are found worldwide, almost all of which are nearly impossible to identify on sight. As the common name implies, their larvae typically feed on decaying flesh. Some, however, rather eat the bacteria and other small organisms living on carrion or feces, as seen here.
